I’ve been quoted in my local paper!
No, the I am not the focus of the article (Latrivia S. Nelson, a local interracial romance writer, is). And yes, I am way more excited about being mentioned in the article than I should be
A few weeks ago, I spoke with a reporter regarding my thoughts on interracial and African American romance, which happens to be 2 of the subgenres I write. We had a nice chat and hit on a few key issues. The reporter was very nice and seemed genuinely interested in what I had to say on the subject. But I know how writing goes, sometimes you have to leave out some of your planned angles and side stories. So I didn’t know how much, if any, of what I said would make the final cut.
I was surprised when one of my CP’s called and told me I’d been quoted in the article. Unfortunately, the story has not been placed online so I can’t link to it. However, I can share the next best thing, a couple of grainy pics of the article
My fellow RCRW member, and author/publisher extraordinaire Deb Dixon, is also quoted.
So, got the final standings of the contest I finaled in yesterday and I got 2nd place overall in my catgory.
Final listings here. Yes, that is my name in the 2nd place slot for Contempoary.
Ok, off to enjoy my celebratory bowl of chocolate pudding and to get my butt in the chair and hands on keyboard (BICHOK). As it was pointed out to me, now I need to get this puppy finished, polished and submitted.
I’m doing the happy dance right now y’all. Just got word this morning that I finaled in the Drive ‘Em Wilde contest sponsored by Savvy Authors.
There were 87 total entrants and I ended up a finalist with the 2nd highest score in my category! I am a bit of a spazz head right now
So now my entry goes to the final judge, Angela James with Carina Press (woot!), for a final judging. Ms. James will then pick the overall category winner.
The official notification is here. WOOT WOOT!!!
I was given the opportunity to inview Author Victoria Schmidt over at Savvy Authors. I first posted about Victoria Schmidt’s craft book Book in a Month here.
Victoria was a blast to interview, head over to Savvy Authors to check it out.
